User typology
  • institutional users: professors and students of the Pontifical Gregorian University (PUG)
  • external users: professors and students of other universities (Church or state affiliated), as well as other academics and researchers
Access cards typology
In order to use the Library and enjoy its services, both types of users must be in possession of a valid Library identity card.
For internal users, this ID card is the magnetic University ID card issued by the Segreteria Generale of the PUG.
For external users, the Library issues an ID card for a limited period of time, the cost of which depends upon the length of the period one intends to make use of the Library services.
The Library issues the following types of ID card for external users:
  • per academic year (1st September - 15th July)
  • per semester (1st September - 15th February; 16 February - 15 July)
  • monthly
  • 10 days
  • daily
Library ID card for external users:
  • The academic staff as well as students coming from "Pontificio Istituto Biblico" and "Pontificio Istituto Orientale" can obtain a free of charge ID card presenting a valid document as proof of belonging to one of the above institutions.
  • The academic staff of Ecclesiastical and State Universities, as well as students coming from Ecclesiastical Universities can obtain an ID card on the payment of a standard fee and the presentation of a valid document as proof of belonging to one of the above institutions.
  • Professors and Graduate students of State Universities can get their ID card upon the payment of a standard fee and the presentation of a letter of recommendation; a professor or lecturer should specify the motives for granting access to the Library access and guarantee the validity of the research the student intends to accomplish.
IMPORTANT!!
All external users (professors, researchers, academics, graduate students), who have never had access to the PUG Library or didn't have the opportunity or need to have access to it during the last three years, must, before obtaining the Library ID card, participate to a guided tour of the Library.

The guided tours are offered every Tuesday from 2.00pm to 3.30pm
