Ignatian Spirituality Centre

In a letter written on May 2, 2012, the Rector of the Pontifical Gregorian University, announced the creation of an Ignatian Spirituality Centre within the Institute of Spirituality. The Centre starts its activity in the 2012-2013 Academic Year, and the Rector appointed Fr. Mark Rotsaert, S.J. as its Director. The first mission of the Centre is to offer an academic program of courses and seminars to the Institute of Spirituality students. Moreover, the Centre could organize round tables, workshops, etc. about different aspects of ignatian spirituality, using a wider perspective than the academic one. The development of the Centre will be progressively made during the next months through proposals that could require a real interdisciplinary work between professors and teachers belonging to different Faculties and Institutes. The workgroup Ignatian Spirituality and Transcendental Method is part of the Centre.
Three different paths are being prepared: one is about the Suppression (1773) and Restoration (1814) of the Company of Jesus. A new vision about this unknown period will be given, via six conferences, by several professors of the PUG. This path will be offered as an optional course to the students of the Institute of Spirituality, but it is also open to whoever is interested, non-students too. It will take place in the late afternoon. The other two paths will be offered to a wider and more varied audience, interested in ignatian spirituality. One will be about the spirituality of Dialogue and Reconciliation from Ignatius' time until now; the other will be about ignatian spirituality and art. These two paths will be offered at the Gregorian, in the evening.
In the second year the Centre would like to propose some specific seminars in the program of the Institute of Spirituality; the conference within the formation paths aimed for a wider audience, will continue. There probably be formation paths lasting a day, a weekend, or a week.
