TSA044  THE FEAR OF GOD AND WISDOM IN THE OLD TESTAMENT TRADITIONS

  • Accademic Unit
    Facoltà di Teologia
  • Course
    Baccalaureato in Teologia

The seminar explores fundamental aspects of the fear of God and
Wisdom, as well as their mutual relationship, through a critical and scientific
analysis of selected OT texts with a particular focus on the Wisdom
tradition. The participants will learn the main techniques of exegesis of
a biblical passage, as well as the most important symbols and forms of
Hebrew poetry.
Besides research and exegetical skills, the seminar aims to offer a
deeper appreciation of the multiform richness of biblical Wisdom and a
more accurate understanding of the multifaceted concept of “fear of God”,
which cannot be reduced to something like human fear nor, on the other
side, to a simplistic love towards God.
