FONSECA

by Délio Mendonça

Fonseca's art can be seen as a window through which we can see what had been happening to Christianity in India for centuries. His attempt to articulate an enculturated Christianity in both artistic practice and Christian iconography makes Fonseca a pioneer of Indian postcolonial thought. Through the visual arts, he came to interpret very early what the Church in India achieved only forty years later through its theologians and their writings
