Book Presentation: Giovanni Paolo II e la Chiesa cattolica in Unione Sovietica e nei Paesi sorti dalla sua dissoluzione. Nel centenario della nascita di Karol Wojtyla

This meeting was held to promote Volume VII of the series Storia della Chiesa in Europa centro-orientale, edited by Prof. Jan Mikrut, Professor of the Faculty of Church History and Cultural Heritage at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. The work carries out an analysis of the process of the USSR from its birth to its dissolution, and its relationship with the world of religion. It takes into account the pontificate of John Paul II, his relationship with the Churches of the Soviet countries, and his personal help for their survival.
The subject is explored with professionalism and scientific seriousness in the 45 contributions contained in the volume: they were written by authors who belong to the linguistic areas involved and who were therefore able to carry out their research in the original language. Even in those cases where the authors, on the other hand, are extraneous to the subject studied and to its cultural context, the research has been conducted with the greatest possible care in order to maintain a high scientific level.
