- Il Corano a Roma. Cattolicesimo e studio dell'Islam in epoca moderna
This event is the result of a collaborative idea between the Centre for Interreligious Studies of the Gregorian, the Pontifical Institute of Arabic and Islamic Studies (Pisai) and the section of the University of Naples L'Orientale of the European project The European Qur'an (EuQu).
The aim will be to investigate how Catholicism has interpreted and studied the Qur'an and Islamic doctrines in modern times, particularly in the 17th century. At the centre of the debate will be the fundamental work of Ludovico Marracci, the writings of the Jesuits and other religious orders, as well as those documents that formed the basis of Catholic Orientalism which had the city of Rome as its centre.
