The Bible is not ashamed to deal with the scandal of violence not to promote or justify it, but because it takes our human condition seriously. From the biblical narrative and the pages of current events, the biblical scholar and journalist bring out the darkest side of our human condition: the perpetuation of violence on the small, the weak and the disenfranchised through oppression and war. Alongside the diagnosis of this evil that lurks within us and generates so much suffering, appropriate healing, liberating therapies also emerge from Scripture, ones that even the hearts of many today can intuit, suggest and implement.
