Scientia Crucis by Edith Stein

Tra labirinti e biblioteche - I grandi libri della tradizione cristiana

"La scienza della croce. Studio su Giovanni della Croce" is a book inseparable from the biography of its author. Edith Stein (1891-1942) was among the first and few women of the time to complete her university studies, political activist, assistant to the philosopher Edmund Husserl, scholar of Thomas Aquinas and mysticism, volunteer nurse, teacher and much more. She was of Jewish origin, converted to Catholicism and entered the Carmelite order. At the outbreak of the war she was transferred to the monastery of Echt, in the Netherlands, in an attempt to tear her away from the Nazi fury that also reached her by killing her in the Auschwitz camp. Just in those months she was finishing "Scientia crucis".

We asked Emma Caroleo, professor at the Institute of Spirituality, to present it.
