Pope Francis signs the Motu Proprio Mitis Iudex Dominus Iesus
Giornata dell'Avvocatura ecclesiastica
Incontro di Studio in memoriam del Card. U. Navarrete, SJ
The new legislation concerning marriage nullity cases introduced by the Motu Proprio Mitis Iudex Dominus Iesus, signed by Pope Francis on August 15, 2015 and announced on September 8, comes into force on December 8, 2015. The much awaited reform was warmly welcomed, and will, in the first place, result in the executability of the first judgment in favor of the nullity of marriage; and the possibility of applying a briefer process before the Bishop in those cases where the alleged nullity of marriage is supported by particularly clear arguments. The newly articulated legislation requires, of course, an in-depth reflection as to its correct interpretation and its proper application.
This Study Day is dedicated precisely to such a reflection. It was conceived by Advocates working in ecclesiastical matters and associated in the Italian Canonical Association. It is open to Advocates, and ministers of Tribunals, Judges, Defenders of the Bond, and to the other Collaborators of ecclesiastical justice.
