Contents: This class, taught in English, seeks to introduce students to
the study of theology. I semester: beginning with the basic notions of the
necessity of the intellectual life, continuing with basic principles of theological
research and study. The class will introduce topics being covered in
the First Year Theology and will allow students to discuss the following issues:
Transmission of Divine Revelation; Credibility of Divine Revelation;
the interpretation of the Bible in the Church; Patrology. II semester: will
lead students in discussions of such topics as Christology and Soteriology,
History of Theology, Doctrine of God, Trinity.

Objectives: To be able to articulate a proper understanding of material
taught in the first year of theology, as well as to come the knowledge of
how to do research and theological writing according to the standards of
the Gregorian University.

Method: Introduction of weekly topic by the Professor, Class discussions
based on the assigned readings; weekly presentations by the students;
weekly integration paper. Each week, the student will be asked to write a
one-page integration paper based on the assigned reading. the student will
be asked to take all of his or her one-page writings and to explicate the central
themes in a three-page paper.

Evaluation: I semester: the performance of the tasks assigned weekly
and active participation. II semester: the performance of the tasks assigned
weekly and active participation and for a final assessment, the student will
write a seven-page research paper on a topic approved by the Professor.
