GREEK, I (A.A. 2023/2024)
Objectives : Achieve the capacity to read, analyze grammatically and comprehend simple texts from the gospels of Mark and John.
Contents: Alphabet, pronunciation, transliteration. Nouns and adjectives: function of cases and declension. Pronouns: personal, possessive, demonstrative, interrogative and indefinite. Prepositions and adverbs. Verbs, their function, tenses, moods and conjugation: present indicative, imperative, infinitive, participle and subjunctive; imperfect and future indicative active; the meaning of the active, middle and passive voices; the verb eimi and the main deponent verbs.
Methodology : Each class session will consist of three parts: introduction of the new material, reading the New Testament, practical exercises. There will be homeworks assigned as well.
Means of evaluation: There will be a midterm and a final exam. The professor will explain the details at the beginning of the course.
