Online Course in Integral Ecology

An Initiative of the Laudato si' Alliance
for the Care of Our Common Home
(Pontifical Universities and Atheneums of Rome)

On 4th October 2023, the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, patron of ecology, Pope Francis released Laudate Deum, the apostolic exhortation that builds on the landmark encyclical letter Laudato Si’ of 2015. He raised again his prophetic voice for the care of Our Common Home. The unprecedented challenge facing the planet and people can only be addressed within the lens of an integral ecological vision championed by Pope Francis in Laudato Si’. The rebuilding of Our Common Home calls for an alliance of all people of good will cutting across of all segments of society. To respond to such prophetic call, the Pontifical Universities and Atheneums in Rome created an alliance to launch the Online Course in English in partnership with many leading groups involved in the area of creation care. On completing the Course the students will be awarded a certificate on request. The participants can also become an official Laudato Si’ Animator, thanks to the Laudato Si’ Movement.

The Course in Integral Ecology consists of six modules of 90 minutes each to be held from January to June 2024 (on every third Thursday of the month from 13.30 to 15.00 hrs CEST/GMT+1), along with an international online conference on Laudate Deum that will be organized in May 2024.

The lessons will be on the six chapters of the Encyclical Laudato Si’, along with integrations from Laudate Deum, handled by a team of professors, researchers and experts from all over the world. All the lessons and Course materials will be available on the Gregorian University website (Moodle) and JDEI YouTube to accommodate the needs of the different geographical time zones.
