Ghislain Lafont Lectio 2024 / Call for papers

On the occasion of the third edition of the "Ghislain Lafont" Lectio, doctoral students and young researchers are invited to propose speeches and reflections that make their research interact with the perspectives opened up by Ghislain Lafont from his book "Petite essayi sur le temps du pape François: Polyèdre émergent et pyramide renversée" (Cerf, Paris 2017). Those interested are invited to send a short biography and an abstract of 1,000 characters by 30 April 2024 to: [email protected]

Proposals will be evaluated by the Lectio's scientific committee, composed of Professors Stella Morra (Pontifical Gregorian University), Andrea Grillo (Pontifical Athenaeum Sant'Anselmo) and Stefano Biancu (Lumsa University). Acceptance will be communicated by 7 May 2024. Presentations must not exceed 10 minutes. They may be accompanied by slides and delivered in Italian, French, English and Spanish. The Lectio "Ghislain Lafont" 2024, will take place on 16 May 2024 at the Pontifical Gregorian University, and will have Prof. Marie-Jo Thiel (Université de Strasbourg) as keynote speaker.

The “Ghislain Lafont” Lectio stems from an agreement signed from the Pontificial Gregorian University with the Pontifical Athenaeum St Anselmo and the Libera Università Maria Santissima Assunta (LUMSA), in order to honour and keep alive the memory of the Benedictine theologian who died in May 2021. The "Ghislain Lafont" Lectio will take place annually and will be hosted in rotation by one of the sponsoring universities. In May 2022, it will be held at the LUMSA, while in 2023 it will be held at the Pontifical Athenaeum St Anselmo and, in 2024, at the Gregorian University, before resuming the rotation in subsequent years. The organisation is assigned to the "Alberto Hurtado" Faith and Culture Centre.
