Objectives: The course illustrates the transformative role of effective strategy in shaping organizations, inspiring visionary leadership, and enabling impactful outcomes for the greater good. The course aims to enhance students' understanding of various strategic models and frameworks, critically evaluating their strengths and potential limitations within a dynamic and complex organizational environment. Building upon vital concepts and theories from diverse disciplines, the course fosters a holistic perspective of the organization as an interdependent network. This viewpoint aids our understanding of how strategies from different functions integrate to create a persuasive competitive stance. It also necessitates a broad and forward-thinking approach, aligning with the principle that "a strategy for real change calls for rethinking processes in their entirety" ( Laudato Si' 197). Furthermore, this course contextualizes the application of these strategic principles within the distinctive context of church leadership, equipping students with the essential tools to navigate and address the specific challenges and opportunities that arise in this setting. In essence, this course positions strategic management as an instrument for fostering transformative leadership that aligns with the Church's mission, ultimately contributing to the pursuit of the common good.

Contents: The course content involves an in-depth exploration of both external environments and internal capabilities of organizations, providing insights from the perspective of top management. Students will have the opportunity to explore diverse strategic options, evaluating their alignment with the organization's mission and values. The comprehensive study of strategic models and frameworks will focus on their practical application within real-world business and apostolate contexts. Additionally, students will engage in the analysis of specific case studies to gain valuable insights into strategic decision-making and develop comprehensive solutions. Furthermore, the course addresses the unique challenges and opportunities present in ecclesial contexts, allowing students to apply strategic management concepts within these specific environments.

Methodology: The course employs an integrative approach, combining theoretical study with practical application. Through simulations, group discussions, and case-based exercises, students develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a sense of discernment. The focus is on applying strategic analysis and decision-making techniques to real-world challenges, fostering a deep understanding of the interconnectedness of organizational functions and the integration of strategies. This methodology equips students to think deeply, practice discernment, and make well-informed decisions in diverse organizational and ecclesial contexts.

Means of evaluation: Regular attendance, active participation, and the ability to collaborate effectively in group work are crucial aspects considered for evaluating student performance in this course. These criteria reflect the understanding that strategic management is a collective endeavor, highlighting the significance of teamwork and the shared responsibility of generating innovative and comprehensive solutions.
