On 22 May 2024, in accordance with Article 24, §1, of the General Statutes of the Pontifical Gregorian University, approved ad experimentum for a five-year period by the Dicastery for Culture and Education on 11 February 2024, the Rector's Council elected Rev. Fr. Sunny Thomas Kokkaravalayil S.J., President of the Pontifical Oriental Institute, Vice Rector of the Pontifical Gregorian University.

The Vice Rector's mandate corresponds to that of the Rector. The Vice Rector has the task of replacing the Rector in the event of his prolonged absence or inability to perform his duties. On behalf of the entire University Community, we extend our best wishes to the Rev. Fr. Sunny Thomas Kokkaravalayil.
