On Friday 16 June 2023, the Rector Fr. Mark Lewis, S.J. - in accordance with Art. 32, §1 of the General Statutes of the Pontifical Gregorian University and Art. 18 of the General Regulations of the same University, after consultation with the Executive Board - appointed Dr. Massimo Gargiulo as Director of the Cardinal Bea Centre for Judaic Studies for a three-year term, for a three-year term, beginning on September 1, 2023.

"I thank Dr. Gargiulo for his willingness to take on this assignment in service to the Centre and our University and I assure him of my and our trust and support," the Rector wrote in the communication to the University Community. "At the same time, I sincerely thank Fr. Etienne Vetö I.C.N. for the service generously rendered to the Centre and the University as Director of the Centre".
