Christmas Carols / Wishes from the Rector

On the last day of classes, Rector Nuno da Silva Gonçalves S.J. shared his message of Christmas wishes in the Gregorian's Atrium, together with some Jesuit professors who animated some Christmas carols: "Let us look into the Bethlehem grotto; let us turn our gaze on the child laid in a manger; in other words, let us turn our gaze on the Son of God who becomes our brother and who comes to indicate God as the father of all".

Classes will resume on 10 January 2022. The Library will be closed to the public from 24 December 2021 to 2 January 2022 and on the feast of the Epiphany.

The tradition of singing Christmas carols from various continents in the breaks between classes in the Gregorian University's Atrium dates back to 1954. It has always been a long-awaited moment and a strong opportunity to grow as a community, as many former students recall after so many years. However, for the second year the pandemic contingencies did not allow us to live this tradition in the same way. The Press and Communication Office has promoted the elaboration of greeting messages in digital format, which will be shared in these days. We are grateful to those who have wished to participate, also contributing in this way to keep alive our spirit of university community.
