Faculty of Theology / Blessing of the new rooms

On the morning of Tuesday, 15 November, the blessing ceremony of the new rooms of the Faculty of Theology was held, presided over by H.Em. Card. Luis Ladaria Ferrer, Professor Emeritus of the Faculty and Prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith.  Also present were the Dean, Fr. Philipp G. Renczes S.J., who affixed the Crucifix in the space in front of the new offices; the Directors of the five Departments; the Moderator of the First Cycle, Fr. Nicolas Steeves S.J., as Master of Ceremonies; and a representation of students, professors and administrative staff. Prof. Nuria Calduch-Benages was entrusted with the reading of a passage from the Gospel according to Matthew (Mt 5:1,-2,13-16).

The following is the introductory address by Card. Ladaria, who then proceeded to the aspersion of the rooms:

God, Lord of all sciences, leads us to acquire that profound knowledge of revealed truth, which has its full fulfilment in his Son made man for us. Theology, in particular, must have as its goal the discovery of truth and the adoring encounter with God, the beginning and end of all things.

The administrative services of our Faculty of Theology, located in these new rooms, are at the service of this landing place. Let us therefore implore upon these halls the abundance of divine blessings, so that those who work here may help the lecturers to unite human knowledge and evangelical wisdom in a harmonious synthesis, and the students to keep the true faith in their hearts so as to profess it in the coherence of life.

We pray in a special way that all may feel the presence of Christ the Master in this Faculty of Theology and that they may in turn enlighten and help the brothers and sisters they meet along the way.
