Former student Albino Luciani will be beatified

On 13 October last, the Holy Father authorised the Congregation for the Causes of Saints to promulgate the Decree concerning the miracle attributed to the intercession of the Venerable Servant of God John Paul I (Albino Luciani), Supreme Pontiff. Born on 17 October 1912 in Forno di Canale (today Canale d'Agordo, Italy), the young Albino Luciani was a student at the Faculty of Theology of the Pontifical Gregorian University in the academic years 1940-1941 and 1942-1943. Still at the Faculty of Theology he wrote his dissertatio ad lauream under the guidance of Charles Boyer SJ, entitled L'origine dell'anima umana secondo Antonio Rosmini. Esposizione e critica.

The Pontifical Gregorian University now counts among its former students 27 saints, 55 blesseds and 16 popes.
