In Memory - Fr. Robert Faricy, S.J.

On 4 March 2022 Fr Robert Faricy S.J. passed away at the age of 95, in Wauwatosa (Wisconsin, USA).

P. Faricy was born in Saint Paul (Minnesota, USA) on 29th August 1926. He entered the Society of Jesus on 8th August 1950, and was ordained on 1st September 1962. He began teaching at the Pontifical Gregorian University in the Institute of Spirituality as Invited Professor in the academic year 1971-1972. The following year he was appointed Adjunct Professor. He was then appointed Extraordinary Professor at the Institute of Spirituality in 1975, and Full Professor at the same Institute in 1978. At the end of the academic year 1996-1997 he became Emeritus. In the summer of 2001 he returned to his Province and for some years had been living in the St. Camillus Jesuit Community in Wauwatosa.

A prolific author, he published several books and hundreds of articles on Teilhard de Chardin, religious life, consecrated life, contemplative life, spiritual discernment and Christian anthropology. Fr Faricy was a member of the first English-speaking group of the Renewal in Italy, 'Lumen Christi'. He was Spiritual Assistant to the National Service Committee and a member of the CNS of Renewal in the Holy Spirit from 1977 to 1986. Co-founder, with Luciana Pecoraio, of the 'Cuore di Gesù' Community.

We entrust Fr Faricy to the Lord, as an expression of our gratitude for his service to the Church and for his teaching in our University.
