Institution of the "Ghislain Lafont" Lectio

On 20 December 2021, the Pontifical Gregorian University signed an agreement with the Pontifical Athenaeum St Anselmo and the Libera Università Maria Santissima Assunta (LUMSA) for the institution of the  "Ghislain Lafont" Lectio, in order to honour and keep alive the memory of the Benedictine theologian who died in May 2021. Dom Lafont also taught at the Gregorian University as Invited Professor in the Faculty of Theology (1983-1993).

The "Ghislain Lafont" Lectio will take place annually and will be hosted in rotation by one of the sponsoring universities. The first edition will take place on 9 June 2022 at LUMSA, with a lecture by the philosopher Jean-Luc Marion, in the presence of the Rectors of the three institutions. Before the Lectio, at 2.30 p.m., there will be a discussion seminar for PhD students and young scholars on Ghislain Lafont's book What can we hope for? To take part in the seminar, please send a short self-presentation to [email protected] no later than 31 May 2022. For further information visit HERE.

In 2023 the Lectio will be held at the Pontifical Athenaeum St Anselmo and, in 2024, at the Gregorian University, before resuming the rotation in subsequent years. The organisation is assigned to the "Alberto Hurtado" Faith and Culture Centre.
