Lent 2022 / Initiatives and proposals

Lent 2022 will be accompanied by numerous initiatives to introduce us to the dynamism of Holy Easter.

1. Blessing of the Cross
A special event for the entire university community will take place next Wednesday 9 March in the Aula magna, at 12:20, with the blessing of the new monumental cross. This will be followed by an aesthetic-theological reading of the work by some professors of the University. We are all invited to participate.

2. Initiatives of the University Chaplaincy
There are numerous initiatives promoted by the University Chaplaincy. Holy Mass will be celebrated every day in the students' chapel at 7:45 am and 12:30 pm. On Wednesdays, after mass, a priest will be available for confessions from 1.00 pm to 2.00 pm.

On Thursday, from 2.30 pm to 3.30 pm, there will be the Eucharistic exposition, adoration and blessing with prayer for Peace in the world. Furthermore, on Thursday evening it will be possible to have a volunteer experience in service to the homeless. To join, write to: [email protected]

On Friday at 18:00, a school of contemplative prayer will be offered in the chapel of the Frascara palace. Christian meditation will be proposed following the method of Fr. Franz Jalics, SJ.

3. 2022 Lenten Retreat
Every Sunday and Wednesday morning, the Youtube channel of the Gregorian University will propose a path of twelve Lenten meditations, in English, inspired by the Ignatian Exercises. The initiative, promoted by the Gregorian University Foundation, involves Jesuit professors from the Pontifical Gregorian University, the Pontifical Biblical Institute and the Pontifical Oriental Institute.
