Memorandum of understanding between Gregoriana and Sapienza

On Friday 15 October, in the Academic Senate Hall of the "Sapienza" - University of Rome, a Memorandum of understanding was signed between the Pontifical Gregorian University and Sapienza University to establish forms of cultural and scientific collaboration in areas of mutual interest. The agreement provides for the exchange of professors, researchers, doctoral students, staff and students, joint research projects, exchange of information, documents and scientific publications and study meetings, seminars and courses.

For the Gregorian University, the following were present at the ceremony: Fr. Nuno da Silva Gonçalves S.J., Vice Rector Fr. Mark Lewis S.J. and the Dean of the Faculty of History and Cultural Heritage of the Church, Fr. Marek Inglot S.J.; for Sapienza University, the Magnificent Rector Prof. Antonella Polimeni, the Director General Dr. Simonetta Ranalli and Prof. Bruno Botta, Pro-Rector for Internationalization Policies.

"The agreement we are about to sign does not start from a vacuum and will not remain a vacuum," said Rector Gonçalves. "For the moment, on the part of the Gregorian University, it is our Faculty of History and Cultural Heritage of the Church that is the flagship of this collaboration, but I believe that it can be extended to other areas of research and teaching". In fact, the signing of the agreement is founded on solid bases and points the way to continuing the work - already begun - between institutions that share the principles of the Bologna Process and of the Lisbon Convention on the recognition of academic degrees.
