Special Semester in Catholic Studies - A.Y. 2023-2024

A semester of in-depth study of Catholic culture topics for students affiliated with Catholic Studies programmes: this is one of the Faculty of Theology's new offerings for the academic year 2023-2024, aimed at English-speaking lay students in Rome.

"The programme does not focus on theology, but on Catholic culture - art, history, political forms, literature - which also encapsulate a theological and philosophical vision," explains Fr Aaron Pidel SJ, moderator of the new program. "Several universities in the United States have established Catholic Studies programmes, and the Gregorian University has offered its academic resources for those academic centres whose English-speaking students are in Rome for a semester. Indeed, the Gregorian University has a staff of highly qualified and internationally trained theologians, philosophers, historians and art experts".

The Rome Catholic Studies Program will open on 25 September and will end on 15 December. Enrolment is open until 22 September, with priority given to students already affiliated in Catholic Studies programmes, but also open to others up to a maximum of 30 students. The courses are conducted entirely in English, so a good level of knowledge of the language is considered a prerequisite. Each course in the Program leads to the award of 6 ECTS.
