What the Church expects from Catholic Universities?

On the occasion of the inauguration of the new office of the International Federation of Catholic Universities, His Eminence Cardinal José Tolentino Mendonça, Prefect of the Dicastery for Culture and Education and Grand Canchellor of the Pontifical Gregorian University, gave an online address for the IFCU membership.

"Education is an act of hope that, starting from the present, looks to the future", it is from this sentence of Pope Francis (Video message to the participants of the UNESCO Mission 4.7 meeting) that Cardinal de Mendonça developed his speech to the members of the FIUC. In his speech, he proposed to examine a way forward, in order to be able to move towards the future. In this perspective, he considers that there are two essential aspects that must be maintained: "Identity" and "Mission" and two others that we are called to renew: "Dialogue" and "University Pastoral Care".
