The seventh Study Day of the Department of Biblical Theology proposes a reflection on the relevance of the patristic interpretation of the Holy Scriptures. The Fathers of the Church used for their reading of Scripture a hermeneutic criterion, previously used in the hellenistic and rabbinic fields, which highlighted the thorough unity between the Old and the New Testament. Can the exegesis of the Fathers have any meaning for contemporary exegesis? What does it mean that Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of the Old Testament figures?
