The seminar intends to present over a long period of time the ways in which the popes govern the Church, from the synodal forms of the beginnings of Christianity to the more centralised forms of the present day, when the bureaucratic structure of the Roman Curia took over from consistory structures and collegial dynamics.

A millenary perspective to understand the developments, which often at the same time and sometimes with contradiction correspond to ecclesiological needs and the ability to adapt to the processes of rationalisation of the administration of states and societies.
