Licentiate in Leadership and Management

In the upcoming 2021/2022 academic year, the Pontifical Gregorian University will offer a new licentiate that will focus on business and organizational leadership and management. This is a genuine novelty in our university, since the area of study of the new program does not seem to be linked ordinarily to our teaching tradition. In order to explain this novelty adequately, it is necessary to start from the fact that, about two years ago in our University, we were required to study Business Administration taught in the Church for the Church. This gave rise to the need to train those who, in the local churches, would be responsible for managing activities such as: schools, hospitals, publishers, consumer cooperatives, sanctuaries, or even directly the financial resources of the dioceses themselves.

As can be seen in the syllabus, our bet is twofold: we aim for a solid formation and, even more excellent but, inspired by and for a Christian, ecclesial and Jesuit spirit. The reflection on identity is very present. Four courses are dedicated to it:

  • 1/ The Vocation of the Business Leader;
  • 2/ Business Ethics;
  • 3/ Ethics of Finance;
  • 4/ Canon Law for Asset Management;
  • 5/ Christian Social Thought.

We believe we can truthfully say that, as a guiding principle, it is also present in the rest of its twenty-four courses.
