Presentation of the Diploma in the History and Art of Jubilees in preparation for the Holy Year 2025

The Pontifical Gregorian University intends to contribute to the preparation of the upcoming Ordinary Jubilee 2025 with the new Diploma in History and Art of Jubilees, a one-year course that will be active starting from the 2023-2024 academic year at the Faculty of Church History and Cultural Heritage.

The Diploma in the History and Art of Jubilees is aimed at those who wish to receive adequate training on issues related to the historical, artistic and religious aspects of the Jubilee and those who will be engaged in welcoming and guiding pilgrims who will arrive in Rome on the occasion of the Holy Year 2025. It is a training course dedicated to the knowledge of Rome, the seat of the Successor of Peter, as a pilgrimage destination: from the visit to the tomb of St. Peter and the tombs of the martyrs, to the establishment of the Jubilee of 1300, a universal event that convenes, from the Middle Ages until today, faithful from every part of the Christian world.

The Diploma in the History and Art of Jubilees enjoys the patronage of the Dicastery for Evangelization (Section for Fundamental Issues for Evangelization in the World) and the Fabric of St. Peter's in the Vatican. The Diploma is also recognized as an accreditation qualification for the purpose of qualification to serve as a guide in the Papal Basilica of St. Peter's, in accordance with the procedures established by the Fabbrica di San Pietro.

The Diploma will be presented in the Aula Magna of the Pontifical Gregorian University on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at 4:30 p.m., in the presence of the Rector Fr. Mark Lewis S.J. After an introduction by Prof. Ottavio Bucarelli (Moderator of the Diploma) and other distinguished Speakers, the Diploma Teachers will present the different disciplines and courses offered by the Diploma.
