Pre-enrollment certificate

New students needing an entry visa to Italy can obtain at no charge from the Registrar Office of the University the certificate of " pre-registration" that allows them to apply in the Italian Consulates of their countries of origin, the "Visa for entry and stay in Italy for study reasons." In Italy it is not allowed to change a tourist visa into a visa of student.

The "pre-registration" certificate must be authenticated by the Dicastery for Culture and Education and authenticated by the Secretariat of State. To obtain the "pre-registration" certificate, the following documents must be presented to the Dean of the Faculty to which you intend to enroll:

For religious and diocesan candidates:

For lay candidates:

  • Qualifications and marks obtained during the studies previously carried out as photocopies (at the time of enrollment, originals should be delivered according to the information that will be provided by the Registrar's Office).
  • Letter of presentation from the Religious Superior or from the local Ordinary.
  • The declaration of responsibility or "taking charge" of the Institute or of the private individual that guarantees the payment of food, lodging and possible health expenses during the period of stay in Italy, or the certification of the scholarship obtained including the costs of food and accommodation or a document certifying the possibility of staying personally for study and living expenses.
  • Photocopy of an identity document.
  • Indication of domicile in Rome during studies. Students belonging to the secular clergy (seminarians or priests) must testify in the Colleges or Institutes of Rome assigned to them, whose list appears in the Pontifical Yearbook. All those who do not live in the aforementioned Colleges or Institutes must present the certification of the recognition of the ministerial faculties issued by the Vicariate of Rome.
  • Qualifications and marks obtained during the studies previously carried out as photocopies (at the time of enrollment, originals should be delivered according to the information that will be provided by the Registrar's Office).
  • Letter of presentation of the Ordinary of the Diocese of origin of the student (the simple presentation of an ecclesiastic is not sufficient).
  • The statement of responsibility or "taking charge" of the Institute or the private individual who guarantees the payment of board and lodging and any medical expenses during the period of stay in Italy, or the certification of the scholarship obtained including the cost of board and lodging accommodation or a document certifying the chance to earn oneself for the costs of study and stay.
  • Photocopy of an identity document.
  • Indication of domicile in Rome during studies.
   

The Dean, if positively assessed the documents received, asks the General Secretariat to draw up the "pre-registration" certificate.
