CHRIST AND RELIGIONS (A.Y. 2023/2024)
Objectives: To enable the students to critically read some important publications regarding the theme; to assess various theological positions in this regard, in the light of the official teaching of the Catholic Church; to develop a theological framework, and a methodology for research in this area and to draw conclusions in fidelity to the teaching of the Catholic Church, while identifying areas that need further research.
Content: Familiarizing with the teaching of the Catholic Church on the theme; reading and critically assessing the positions of a few theologians regarding the theme; identifying the central Trinitarian-Christological concerns that are related to the theme; sketching a methodology for doing a theology of religions; identifying areas for further research.
Methodology: The methodology consists of necessary inputs from the professor, reading the indicated material on the part of the students and a weekly brief presentation of the main points of their reading which will be followed by discussion in the class. The students will have to write a final paper of about 6-8 pages on a related theme of their choice, which has to be approved by the professor.
Means of evaluation: 25% for the weekly presentations; 25% for the participation in the class discussions; 50% for the final paper.
